SANTO DOMINGO (Licey.com).- El zurdo Génesis Cabrera registró el lunes 26 de junio un auspicioso debut en Doble A, anotándose la victoria para Montgomery (Tampa Bay), que en un cerrado duelo en su estadio dispuso por 2-1 de Birmingham (Chicago WS) en la Liga del Sur del béisbol estadounidense, con 2,590 aficionados en gradas.

El nativo de la capital laboró por 7.0 entradas, apenas permitió dos hits, dio dos bases por bolas, le anotaron una carrera que fue inmerecida (EFE 0.00). Ponchó ocho de 26 rivales que enfrentó, dominó ocho con rodados, cuatro con elevados, realizó 98 lanzamientos, 59 strikes.

Cabrera, 20 años, 6’1” de estatura y 170 libras, fue tomado por el Licey en la sexta ronda del último Sorteo de Novatos de la LiDom (2016). Inició la presente temporada en Charlotte, Liga de Florida (A avanzada) y tuvo marca de 4-5 en ganados y perdidos en 13 salidas, 12 como abridor.

En 69.2 entradas solo admitió 45 hits (3 jonrones), 22 carreras limpias para buena efectividad de 2.84. Otorgó 25 bases por bolas y ponchó 60. La oposición le bateó para promedio de .185 y su WHIP fue 1.00.

Héctor Pérez se acreditó un extraño juego salvado (1) con un largo relevo de 4.0 episodios, mientras el local Buies Creek (Houston) apaleaba por 8-1 a Carolina (Milwaukee) en la Liga de Carolina (A avanzada).

En su larga faena solo le ligaron dos hits, dio tres bases por bolas, una carrera limpia (EFE 3.45). Ponchó cinco de 17 enfrentados, doblegó de a tres con batazos por el piso y por el aire, sus pitcheos fueron 68, con 38 sobre el plato.

El torpedero Osvaldo Abreu bateó dos sencillos en cuatro chanches (.235), en derrota por 5-3 de Harrisburg (Washington) en su hogar ante Reading (Filadelfia) en la Liga del Este (AA). Su compañero, el primera base José Marmolejos, recibió dos bases por bolas, anotó una y agotó tres turnos oficiales (.311). Entre los dos confeccionaron una doble matanza.

De antesalista, Dawel Lugo ligó de 4-1 (.270) en la cerrada derrota por 2-1 de Jackson (Arizona) ante el visitante Jacksonville (Miami) en la Liga del Sur (AA). Fue su tercer encuentro corrido con hits.

Sergio Alcántara terminó de 4-1 (.284) en la paliza por 11-1 que recibió Visalia (Arizona) en Modesto (Seattle) en la Liga de California (A avanzada). En defensa del campo corto participó en una doble jugada.
